Learn To Love Your Home Again: Five Steps To Avoid Selling Your Property.

by Heather Howell

Everyday across the country houses are sold for various reasons. Be it for financial requirements, an impending change of location or a myriad of other unavoidable reasons, selling your house and the subsequent relocating are some of the most arduous tasks a person can undertake in their lifetime. But what of those people that are simply selling up because they've come to loathe their property and want a change? Does this apply to you? Are you disillusioned? Do you feel nothing but an empty discontent each time you open your front door? If you are one of the many property owners that simply no longer like the home you live in, it is not too late to take action. So before you undertake the trialing task of selling your house, take down the for sale sign and try these five simple steps to transform your property into something new and amazing. Go ahead and fall in love with your home again.

1. A second chance at a first impression.

First impressions are everything. This is equally true for those who have been living in their home for years. If the very sight of your home exterior invokes in you nothing but contempt, then chances are that feeling will remain with you throughout the rest of the property. Consider what exactly it is that you dislike about the look of your home exterior and work from there. Give your home a face lift. The difference a coat of paint can make to your home's overall appearance is remarkable. Repair any exterior flaws: cracks in masonry, cladding that has long since passed its best, or exterior pipe work that is serving no other purpose but to frame your home's faults. Give it all the once over and increase the aesthetic appeal of you property. You'll be amazed at the improvement and just how appealing your home has become with one simple step.

2. Sow the seeds of satisfaction.

Your garden is an important feature. If your garden or yard is more a parasite than a paradise, a drastic overhaul is needed. A well manicured garden will improve the curb appeal of your home tenfold. Think about the features you'd want in your perfect garden and get creative. Most ideas can be adapted to suit individual gardens, and yours is no different. New fence? Get it. Always fancied a water feature? Install it. It may take a little effort and a lot of imagination, but the reward will be worth it. A few improvements later and you'll have your very own slice of nirvana, an out door haven just waiting to be escaped in to.

3. Don't loathe your lavatory.

The bathroom is one of the most frequented and functional rooms of the home. But functional doesn't have to be frumpy. Hire a bathroom renovations professional to renovate your bathroom and breathe some life into your tired and lack lustre loo! It may be a new bathroom suite or a few structural adaptations, but the difference achieved with such little work will be unfathomable. A professional remodelling contractor will be able to work within your budget and provide oodles of inspiration for improvements and upgrades. Before you know it, you'll be racing home after a hard day to your own personal relaxation restroom, enjoying a long and luxurious soak in your new tub or shower.

4. Fix your family headquarters.

The kitchen is the command centre of most homes and, by default, the room that is most occupied during waking hours. A quick paint job and a thorough declutter can improve the appeal of most kitchen and dining areas. However, if you require something a tad more radical then opt for an all out overhaul. Fixtures and fittings can be moved fairly easily with the assistance of a professional and make a huge difference to the flow and energy of your home. If your feeling especially lavish, indulge in a complete new kitchen kit out. Your home's headquarters will thank you for it and the kitchen will again become the much loved space it was meant to be.

5. And finally...the rest is up to you.

This one's all you. What is it that really bugs you about your home? Each property is different and each comes with different flaws and faults. Whatever it is, fix it! There is very little about a house that cannot be improved upon. So don't sit back and let your home's failures fester. Take action now and give yourself the gift of loving your home again.

About Me

Replacing your bathroom tiles

We have a bathroom with a really nice layout and structure, but the colour scheme is so dated. I can't believe anyone thought that peach tiles with a floral border was a good idea! I don't have a lot of money, but I want to replace some of the most dated items with more modern bathroom fixtures to create a modern and light-filled bathroom. This blog has tips on remodelling a dated bathroom on a budget and should be useful for anyone who is tired of their peach (or pastel) bathrooms but hasn't been able to afford a full bathroom remodel yet. We've done bathroom remodels a couple times now and hopefully our experiences can help you!
